Handling Posters Before Having Them Framed for Your Home

Posters are a staple in the world of advertising and digital marketing—even in your home. If you’re looking for ways to decorate your home or transform a plain-looking area, framed posters are a great idea to beautify your walls. So, if you have a poster in mind that you want to be framed, here are some things you need to know.

Creases in Posters

Those wrinkles on your poster are annoying, but they’re likely to occur. The good news is you can iron them out before you have the poster framed. Lines, creases or ridges on the poster can be fixed. Here are some ways to fix it:

  • Steam: Remove these imperfections by making the paper more malleable before you flatten it out. Steaming is easy—all you need is cardboard, a shower curtain and a shower. Lay the poster over the piece of cardboard and make sure the image side is facing down on top of it. Turn the shower on and leave the room for 30 minutes. After that, let it sit and place it back in a normal environment with another piece of cardboard on top of it.
  • Iron: Ironing your poster will take lesser time. Like steaming, you will need a piece of cardboard that will fit your poster’s size. You will need an iron and ironing board, and a piece of cloth as well. Set your iron to the lowest heat setting without steam, and iron it.

Old Rolled-Up Posters

Most of the time, posters are delivered in tubes, which is great for shipping but not so much for the recipients. There are some ways you can get a poster lay flat before you start the framing process.

For the curling, roll it the opposite way it balls up into. A few rubber bands will help! Place a rubber band to hold it in place and leave it there for a few hours.

After some time, unroll it, and it should have lost much of its tendency to roll back up. Still, it’s possible to have some curving. Eliminate this by using a few heavyweights on top of the poster and let it sit that way for a few more hours. Once done, your poster will lay flat enough, and you can have it framed right away.

Framed posters are a great way to spice up your home decor. If you’re out of ideas to decorate your home, you can’t go wrong with having some posters framed; they will surely make a room in your home stand out.
